Our latest website launch is the newest member of a distinguished hospitality family, and is all about making you feel relaxed. 

We’re very pleased to announce that the new InterContinental Sanctuary Cove website, designed by Komosion Lead Designer Katherine Carmody, went live on Tuesday 22nd March. 

To the initiated, Sanctuary Cove conjures images of calm, of welcome, of airy Queensland architecture and of course, that lagoon. This is the third new website Komosion has built for the InterContinental Group, after the flagship InterContinental Sydney site and the Hayman Island Resort site launched in 2021. Sanctuary Cove meets InterContinental’s same exacting standards of luxury and immersive design, whilst evoking the relaxed Queensland experience that Sanctuary Cove is famous for. 

One challenge here was showcasing the broad variety of services and venue opportunities, especially the golf courses, without overwhelming the user. The other was how to create a site that showcased a global brand, yet maintained its own identity, even alongside other InterContinental properties in Australia.

Through user testing, we were able to mitigate some of the ‘all hotel’ approach, increase awareness of event and wedding opportunities and showcase facilities available through images and navigation. As always, of course, images and art direction make a site like this, and the recent hotel refurbishment yielded some stunning photography.
