Komosion is exploring the establishment of an Artificial Intelligence R&D Laboratory with Vietnam’s Eastern International University (EIU) following its participation in an Austrade “in-market” program in May.
The proposed AI Lab would serve as a space for prototyping real-world AI use cases for our clients while supporting Vietnamese students and Australian interns with hands-on learning.
Team Australia
The Austrade Smart Cities Landing Pad program brought Komosion together with 12 other purpose-driven Australian companies (“Team Australia”) to engage with Vietnam’s Smart City agenda and emerging technology ecosystem.
We shared a stand and presented at the Smart City Asia 2025 Expo in Ho Chi Minh City – Vietnam’s premier B2B technology showcase – alongside other Australian businesses tackling everything from smart parking (KERB) to AI-enabled industrial automation (Ghost Analytics), and sustainable agriculture (Xylogic).

Austrade also arranged visits to Australia’s RMIT University’s Ho Chi Minh campus, the Becamex Investment and Development Corporation which is developing the city of Binh Duong, where EIU is based, north of Ho Chi Minh City, and software conglomerate TMA Solutions located inside the already established Quang Trung Software City precinct.

“The elephant may be overtaken by the hare“
A highlight of the program was a formal meeting with Dr Nguyen Huu Le, founder of TMA Solutions – now one of Vietnam’s largest software companies with over 4,000 staff.
Dr Le, educated in Australia on a Colombo Plan scholarship, suggested that smaller, more agile firms have unique advantages in the AI era, noting his organisation needed to be aware that “the elephant may be overtaken by the hare”.
Vietnam now has a population of more than 102 million people – the third most populous in Southeast Asia – and one of the youngest – 67% of the population is of working age. Growth in 2024 was recorded at seven per cent and the World Bank forecasts GDP per capita to be one of the fastest growing in the world over the next five years.
Dr Le’s vision is for Vietnamese talent and Australian entrepreneurs to work side-by-side for the mutual benefit of both countries. It’s a vision Komosion shares.
